A leading magazine for Asperger's syndrome and autism, Autism Digest, recently featured an article about the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for Asperger's.
A mother of a child with Asperger's wrote the article, explaining in a video that 'at this point there's no medication specifically for Asperger's. I wanted to use any tool that I could to help my child.'
She and her husband decided to offer him the opportunity to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme 'and just see'.
'And really I am so happy I did it. I strongly urge anyone with a kid with Asperger's to really give this thing [Transcendental Meditation] a second look, and also urge anyone with a kid with Asperger's to get your whole family doing it, to give your child the support he or she needs.'
She says, 'I was amazed that he was interested in doing it; I was amazed that he could do it; I was amazed at the results.'
After learning Transcendental Meditation he had fewer temper tantrums, he received glowing comments from teachers about his improvement at school, and he became a straight-A student. (Please see Global Good News article: Mother describes how Transcendental Meditation helps child with Asperger's.)
'It's one of the best things we've done for him. I couldn't recommend anything more highly,' the mother says.
In the coming days Global Good News will feature comments from the child with Asperger's about his experience with Transcendental Meditation.
