On 17 November 2010 SkinInc.com reported:
While visiting India recently with US President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama looked forward to enjoying a spa treatment arranged by top Indian experts in Ayurveda, an ancient natural and holistic system of health care. Demand for authentic Ayurvedic treatments is increasing, comments a representative of Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center - Lancaster in the United States.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
'A rapidly growing number of Westerners are finding the holistic ayurveda approaches to be effective ways to maintain the body's youth and resilience, and promote health, longevity and well-being,' says Andrea York in the article.
The article states that 'according to the World Health Organization, [Ayurveda is] the oldest continuously practiced system of health care in the world.'
European physician and author Karin Pirc, MD, PhD, is a long-time expert in Ayurveda. In 1993 Dr Pirc established the Ayurveda Health Centre in Bad Ems, Germany along with her husband Lothar Pirc. It has become an award-winning spa.
'Ayurveda promotes reducing the effects of stress on mind and body through health-promoting therapies including massage, good eating habits, balanced daily routine, yoga, meditation and a seasonal cleansing program known as panchakarma . . . ,' Dr Pirc is quoted as saying.
