8 June 2010
During a recent three-week tour of the United Arab Emirates and India, Dr Robert Schneider, leading cardiologist and expert in Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care, was invited to participate in the second interactive conference with international delegates for the global propagation of Ayurveda. The conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Health of the government of India and the Department of AYUSH.*
Fifty representatives of Ayurveda around the world, largely from outside of India, were invited to join the government and Ayurveda leaders in India to think together how the knowledge and practice of Ayurveda could be brought to the rest of the world.
It was recognized that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has brought Ayurveda to the West and to the world, 'so in some sense they are following in those footsteps already,' Dr Schneider said in a recent televised report.** 'They see this trend already happening and certainly want to do their part in supporting this promotion.'
Maharishi Ayur-Veda is well respected by leaders in the government of India, Dr Schneider said. It was well represented at this conference by Dr Schneider; Mr Anand Srivastava, President of Maharishi Ayur-Veda Products in India; Dr Oliver Werner, President of Maharishi Ayur-Veda Products in Europe; and Dr Devendra Triguna, a leading Ayurvedic physician in India.
Dr Schneider had several meetings with leaders of AYUSH and representatives of the Indian government about collaborations to further expand this ancient knowledge of Vedic health care in a modern scientific context.
One of the positive outcomes from the conference was an agreement Dr Schneider signed with government representatives in India to support the first research project in the United States to study the effects of the traditional Maharishi Ayur-Veda Rasayanas, herbal supplements for perfect health and longevity.

** Dr Schneider gave his report on the 28 May Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
