On 13 April 2010 Daily Mail reported:
While reality TV, impolite behaviour, and inconsiderate driving can elevate blood pressure, recent research shows that the Transcendental Meditation Programme helps lower blood pressure and reduce depression.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
'Regularly being stressed puts people at higher risk of stroke,' the article states.
The Daily Mail reports that 'medical experts believe Transcendental Meditation could be used to treat high blood pressure and psychological problems.'
Two recent research studies 'have found that it worked significantly better than good diet and exercise in tackling the stresses of modern life,' the article reports.
Findings included 'a 48 per cent reduction in symptoms of depression' through practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
Among supporters of Transcendental Meditation are renowned filmmakers David Lynch and Clint Eastwood, notes the Daily Mail.
The article also emphasizes the importance of regularly getting one's blood pressure checked.
'It is estimated that 40 per cent of the 150,000 strokes suffered by people in the UK each year could be prevented by controlling high blood pressure,' Laura Dart from The Stroke Association says in the article.
