Dr. Schneider gives presentations in India and Greece
The M.U.M. Review Maharishi University of Management, Iowa, USA Translate This Article
15 September 2009
Robert Schneider, M.D., dean of the [M.U.M.] Maharishi College of Perfect Health, was recently invited by India's Ministry of Health and Welfare to participate in a panel sponsored by that ministry's Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
The mission of this department is to support the practices of Ayurveda and other natural health systems internationally.
Dr. Schneider, who is a member of the international committee for global standards of Ayurvedic education, reported on the consciousness-based educational system at the Maharishi College of Perfect Health. The College offers 40 Vedic approaches spanning mind, body, and environment, which includes the environment of collective consciousness, the architectural environment, and nature—the cosmic environment. Each of these factors has an influence on health.
According to Dr. Schneider, the purpose of the meeting was to begin to think about implementing the kind of educational and research programs in which Maharishi University of Management has shown leadership.
In addition, Dr. Schneider and physics professor and University trustee Dr. John Hagelin were invited to give a special training session to graduate medical students and professionals at the University of Athens, in Greece.
The session consisted of an intensive two days of seminars on the theory and research behind the Transcendental Meditation program and the Maharishi Ayur-VedaSM program, including extensive research on the technique's effect on health. There were four hours of seminar each day, followed by discussion.
This series of lectures was part of a year-long graduate program on stress management. The 23 top professors from around the world in the science of stress and stress management were invited.
