Maharishi's Vedic Approach to Health headlined in Irish press

The Sunday Independent, the biggest selling Sunday newspaper in the Republic of Ireland, recently featured a half-page article and photograph with the headline 'A Design for Life that can Help us all Find Balance' and sub-heading 'Maharishi Ayurvedic Appoach to Health can Prevent Illness and Promote General Well-Being'. The article included an interview with a well-known Irish consultant in Maharishi Ayur-Veda and a teacher of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique.

Dr Joseph Hayden, National Director of Global Country of World Peace for Ireland, also reported expansion of Consciousness-Based Education in schools and colleges in Northern Ireland. The programme, which began with a single class of disadvantaged students, quickly gained popularity, leading to several requests for instruction in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme in other schools and colleges.

Meanwhile, demolition is underway of old buildings on land acquired by the Global Country of World Peace. The site, which has been reported on previously in Global Good News, is on the Belfast Peace Line. The Peace Line consists of a series of barriers separating the city's communities and has long been a powerful symbol of unresolved sectarian divisions, and of the long history of conflict in the province.

The Foundation Stone of the Maharishi Tower of Invincibility has already been placed, and construction of a Maharishi Peace Palace will begin soon. The Northern Ireland government publically announced that crime in that area has decreased by 20% in the past year. Dr Hayden explained that this reflects increased purity in the collective consciousness of society as a result of growing numbers learning and practising Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme in the region.
