A cure for heart-ache

29 September 2007
On 29 September 2007 Timesonline.com reported:
Science has discovered that our emotional responses are from the brain, not the heart, as most people might imagine. Scientists have found that the brain's response to stress and negative emotions has a direct impact on the heart, and heart disease in particular. Scientists and doctors are now looking at their patient's emotional state and preventative techniques, such as Transcendental Meditation, which improve heart health by improving the brain's response to stress.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The Timesonline.com article reported, 'This comes as no surprise to Dr Peter Gruenewald, a GP and holistic practitioner, who believes that if you can treat negative emotions such as anxiety, you may prevent heart disease. He says that the conventional approach to cardiovascular disease—reducing cholesterol, taking more exercise—only looks at part of the picture because it does not address the patient's emotional state.'
The article quoted Dr Gruenewald as saying, 'The number of studies on heart-rate variability connected to human disease has substantially grown over the years. Between 1988 and 1998 it grew from one in 20,000 of all medical studies to one in every 1,000.' The article included discussion of his own methods for promoting stress reduction.
A commentary on the article written by Dr Toby Murcott, former BBC science correspondent, concluded, 'There is good evidence that relaxation techniques can help to curb heart problems. A review of research into Transcendental Meditation and cardiovascular disease published in 2004 concluded that practising TM could reduce cholesterol levels, decrease blood pressure and lower stress.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
