17 November 2006
On 17 November 2006 The Des Moines Register reported:
US colleges and universities are following the lead of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa by adopting all-campus smoking bans.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The Des Moines University in Iowa has also already banned smoking on their grounds, and a smoking ban is being considered by the University of Iowa, Des Moines Area Community College, and Drake University.
When the ban takes effect the schools will join the 34 colleges and universities across the United States that prohibit smoking anywhere on campus.
Global Good News comment
According to a report by the Surgeon General of the US Department of Health and Human Services, scientific evidence indicates that any level of exposure to secondhand smoke is a health risk.
