5 July 2005
On 5 July 2005 Iowa City Press-Citizen reported:
'The latest extention of Vedic tradition' is coming to downtown Iowa City. Iowa City's newspaper announced the city's popular downtown mall will become home to a new Maharishi Enlightenment Center, offering various approaches to reducing stress and high blood pressure, including courses in the Transcendental Meditation Programme, massage, and skin treatments.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
Eventually, directors of the Maharishi Enlightenment Center say, a $3 million, two-story 'Peace Palace' will be built to offer the Transcendental Meditation Technique and other health-promoting classes and lectures. They say the project will benefit Iowa City by helping to reduce crime and create a healthier, more peaceful society.
Kent Boyum, co-director of the Peace Palace project in Iowa City, told the Iowa Press-Citizen, 'There are probably 700 published scientific studies, from health benefits, education benefits, workplace development, working together in the work place, including peace and reducing the negative trends in society, in cities, and even whole countries. That's why one of the main focuses is building a Peace Palace just to increase the number of people to practise worldwide.'
The article noted that Boyum is part of a non-profit organization called the Global Country of World Peace that has set a goal of building 3,000 Peace Palaces nationwide. Peace Palaces have already been built in Washington DC, Houston, and Lexington, Kentucky.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
