'Although there are still issues to be resolved, Japan is definitely on the mend after last year's earthquake.'
A teacher of the Transcendental Meditation programme who works closely with administrators and other teachers in Japan recently recounted signs of rising positivity and progress in the country.
Lately, very progressive legislation has been passed to prevent a nuclear disaster from happening again, he said.
This legislation includes a feed-in-tariff scheme initiated by a former Prime Minister, giving homeowners the ability to sell solar energy into the grid at twice the market rate.
There are estimates that this incentive, along with other incentives for renewable energy that the government has just passed, will unleash billions of dollars of investment in clean energy technologies.
Indeed, according to Reuters, 'The data showed Japan's 10 regional power companies spent a total 96 billion yen ($1.2 billion) for surplus solar power from house owners and small businesses last year.'
But it's not just the power companies seeking to do their part.
Other Japanese companies are seeking to avoid a need for nuclear power in the future by creating sustainable homes and sustainable living technologies. These products include a complete home that uses entirely renewable energies, from the kitchen to the car. This home is now on sale in its entirety.
Transcendental Meditation teachers feel that these developments have shown a great improvement in the country. 'This successful management of the disaster and the growth of new technologies to support clean energy, we feel, are due to the rising coherence in national consciousness' resulting from the practice of increasing numbers of Transcendental Meditation practitioners throughout the country.
Further articles in this series will describe more about how Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's technologies of consciousness are creating a positive, peaceful, progressive influence in Japan.
