Advanced Transcendental Meditation practitioners from throughout Europe will convene later this week for a special three-day conference in Brussels, Belgium.
The conference is planned for 28-30 June, coinciding with the European summit being held 28-29 June in Brussels, organizers explained.
Participants in the meditators' conference will convene each day at the Transcendental Meditation centre in Brussels for two sessions of extended group practice of the meditation technique as well as the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying.
Scientific research has found that Transcendental Meditation produces a state of restful alertness in the individual meditator's mind and physiology, reducing stress and promoting integrated brain functioning.
Groups of people practising Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying have been shown in more than 50 scientific replications and 23 published studies to produce a measurable effect of increased coherence, harmony, and positivity in society, and reduced negative trends including crime and social violence.
The Transcendental Meditation centre is located not far from where the European leaders will be meeting in Brussels. The intention is to gather a group of about 50 or more advanced meditators practising together—to produce 'a good effect of coherence' in the vicinity of the summit, supporting the deliberations of the European heads of state 'so that their decisions will be in the direction of unity, stability, and good progress for a good future for everyone', said Stijn van den Bosch, director of the Transcendental Meditation programme in Belgium.
The coherence-creating effect will be augmented by a group of younger meditators convening at a conference on the outskirts of Brussels at the same time.
In countries throughout the world, organizations teaching Transcendental Meditation have set a priority to establish large permanent coherence-creating groups of meditators to produce a continuous influence of harmony and positivity in national consciousness.
For example, the Invincible America Assembly in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, is a group of over 1,700 advanced meditators practising Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's peace-creating technologies of consciousness. News reports in recent years of a continuing 'baffling' steep decline in violent crime in the United States have confirmed predictions lodged by scientists when the assembly began six years ago—that it would have a measurable national impact in defusing the acute societal stress that fuels crime and violence.
Even though the conference in Brussels will be temporary, organizers expect that all together, the Transcendental Meditation groups in and near the capital city have the potential to generate a significant influence of coherence to support the European summit proceedings.
