Skelmersdale-based former council officer delighted after OBE award

On 12 January 2012 Ormskirk & Skelmersdale Advertiser reported: A former council officer of the London Borough of Sutton in the UK, who moved to Skelmersdale, Lancashire, for his daughter's education, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List. Dr Ian Birnbaum, who practices Transcendental Meditation, moved his family to Skelmersdale when he retired two years ago so that his daughter could attend the Maharishi School. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of government.

Dr Birnbaum described why the family moved to Skelmersdale from Sutton, because his daughter was about to enter secondary school 'and we wanted her to go the Maharishi School. We believe it offers an excellent education and she's very happy there.'
