Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa, USA, celebrated its 10th anniversary on 25 July.
The city was incorporated 25 July 2001 as a model of ideal city life, based on the practical application of the 40 approaches of Vedic knowledge brought to light by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—including those in architecture, organic agriculture, education, health, and reduction of stress—to promote life supported by total Natural Law.
Along with Maharishi University of Management, three miles away in the neighbouring city of Fairfield, since July 2006 Maharishi Vedic City has been home to the Invincible America Assembly, a group of 2,000 residents, students, faculty, and visitors who practice Maharishi's technologies of consciousness—Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, together twice daily to create coherence and harmony in US national consciousness. The assembly includes a large number of Yogic Flying Maharishi Vedic Pandits from India.
The anniversary ceremonies featured addresses by Dr Robert Wynne, Mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, and members of the City Council, as well as by Ed Malloy, Mayor of Fairfield.
The festivities culminated in the evening in a grand fireworks display on the grounds of the Maharishi Peace Palace.
