United Kingdom: New signs of rising positivity in social and political trends

The Independent newspaper in the United Kingdom recently reported that crime is the lowest in the UK since records began being kept by the British Crime Survey. Alcohol and cigarette consumption have decreased markedly, and the economy grew at twice the predicted rate in the third quarter of the year. The Prime Minister has announced plans for a 'National Happiness Index' to be used alongside economic data, which has broad support across the political spectrum and is leading to a rethinking of many fundamental policies in order to increase the health and happiness of the people.

These changes are all in the direction that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi predicted as world consciousness rises in coherence and positivity due to the implementation of his programmes in all areas of life.

In the field of renewable energy the UK government has made huge investments, and the UK is now leading the world—producing more wind energy than the rest of the world put together—following the opening of the massive Thanet wind farm in the Thames Estuary, which more than doubled capacity. Huge government incentives and the opening of the Green Investment Bank by the UK government are leading an increasing rush from investors worldwide to develop Britain's energy resources. In UK energy, 4.7% now comes from wind energy, and estimates are that 100% will be from renewable sources by 2050. For Scotland, this will be achieved by 2025, and the country will then start to export green energy to England and the rest of Europe.

Natural Law recognized by national law: One of the earliest known spiritual practices in the United Kingdom, the ancient Druid way of life, has been declared a religion on a par with all other religions, and is enjoying a massive resurgence of interest. Druidism was outlawed by the Roman invaders of Britain 2,000 years ago when they found that the recitations of the Druid priests made the armies of the Britons invincible. It was only after a painstaking focus on eliminating the Druids that the Romans were able to conquer England.

The national Transcendental Meditation website and the TM News magazine indicate from where all this change is coming. It comes from the enlivenment of the field of all possibilities in the consciousness of all those practising Maharishi's programmes for enlightenment and invincibility of the nation.

Since Maharishi re-opened his organization in Great Britain in July 2007, many more Transcendental Meditation Centres have been established, and there are now 53 locations across the country where people can learn the technique. The distribution of these teaching centres corresponds to the distribution of the population in the country.
