Nepal: Food purity and self-sufficiency through Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture
by Global Good New staff writer

In Nepal, production of pure healthy food through sustainable, organic agriculture is a focus of both government officials and non-governmental organizations who are working with leaders of the Global Country of World Peace to make this a reality.
Please see Part I of this article.
Step by step, over the next ten years or so, the entire food production system will move in this direction, beginning with renewable practices, then organic, and then incorporating Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture.
'Nepal is already a Vedic culture, where all of the aspects of Natural Law are already very lively. It's a very natural thing for this to happen,' commented Dr John Fagan, an Administrator of the Global Country of World Peace with global responsibility for food purity and safety.
This new approach will bring increased self-sufficiency to agriculture in Nepal. Rather than relying on imported chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides, farmers will be able to utilize advanced organic methods and ancient Vedic approaches to nourish the soil, enliven the land's inherent fertility, and naturally control pests.
'It's a beautiful thing that's happening there,' Dr Fagan said, adding that similar programmes will be offered around the world—including South America, Africa, Europe, and the US.
A significant step toward ensuring food purity worldwide is in progress, Dr Fagan continued. Plans are moving forward for the establishment of two labs: one lab will assess in a rigorous way the problems that exist with genetically engineered crops; and the other will put in place testing that will allow for transparency in the food system, so that if a crop is genetically engineered it will be clearly disclosed to consumers. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had emphasized the tremendous importance of such labs worldwide, Dr Fagan said.
