Pure, healthy food - key for enlightenment of individuals and elimination of poverty: Dr Bevan Morris

The initiatives of the Global Country of World Peace for worldwide food purity and safety are critical for the health and progress of the human race, said Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister, recently.

'What is the world without the world food supply?' Dr Morris asked. 'If it is ruined, then we have no basis for life on earth.' In addition, he said, 'we know that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi saw that the production of pure, healthy food was both a key for Vedic consciousness, and therefore enlightenment for individuals in society—but also the key for elimination of poverty in the world.'

Dr Morris placed great importance on the Global Country of World Peace having a Raja who is focussed on this area of food purity and safety, and said that Maharishi had appointed 'the perfect person' to lead this area.

Leaders of the Global Country in MERU, Holland, were discussing the contribution of Raja John Fagan's* leadership, over the last 15 years, to the rising demand for food purity and safety around the world.

Dr Morris commended Raja Fagan's global expertise*, describing him as 'a mighty force in the whole planet—tremendously energetic and focused, and making great strides day by day' in accomplishing all of Maharishi's initiatives in this area.

In a presentation earlier in the day in MERU, Raja Fagan had described how rising coherence in national consciousness in the United States and India, resulting from Maharishi's programmes, has created a new awakening within the scientific community, the government, and at the 'grass roots' level to ensure the authenticity, purity, and safety of food, especially with respect to the use of genetically engineered foods.

Raja Fagan's presentations are extremely thorough and precise, Dr Morris said, and 'done with very great intelligence and compassionate energy. . . . We really consider him to be a treasure of the Global Country of World Peace and a treasure of the human race.'

* Raja John Fagan, PhD is Raja of the Global Country of World Peace with special responsibility for food purity and safety, and healthy invincibility, a responsibility entrusted to him by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He has extensive expertise as a molecular biologist who for more than two decades used recombinant DNA techniques in his own research, for which he received over US$2.5 million in grants from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). In 1994 Dr Fagan took an ethical stand against germ-line genetic engineering and renounced $1.8 million in further grants.
