Maharishi Poverty Removal Programme: Uplifting the health and vitality of nations through Vedic Organic Agriculture

During a recent Global Press Conference on Unified Field-Based Agriculture, Dr John Konhaus, Raja (Administrator) of California for the Global Country of World Peace, discussed the Maharishi Poverty Removal Programme—one of the seven programmes of the Global Financial Capital of New York.

The first principle is to use the several billion hectares of unused land in the world to grow the fully nutritious, vital food cultivated through Vedic Agriculture, which will uplift the health, vitality, and creativity of the entire nation, and then to supply it to the wealthy nations. This will bring wealth back to the poor nations and rebalance the world's economy, bringing a better life to the region's farmers from the beginning. Dr Konhaus reviewed principles of Vedic Agriculture, inspired by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, that the farmers 'should have a good salary, . . . a comfortable home, proper health care, proper education for their children, mothers should be at home with their children, [and] the entire system should be such that culture and religion can flourish'.

From the Global Financial Capital of New York, Dr Konhaus said, they are encouraging investors to invest in this poverty removal programme, risk-free because so many countries are involved that if crops fail in one area, they will succeed in another part of the world. Dr Konhaus further noted that crops would not be expected to fail, given the support of Nature promoted by Maharishi's programmes; and that the large groups of Yogic Flyers that Maharishi is creating throughout the world will structure added coherence in the world's consciousness and added balance in its ecosystems.

Dr Konhaus also mentioned several items of good news. 'The European Organic Congress will meet in December to legislate new enhancements for the growth of the organic programme throughout the European Union.' In France 7% of people now buy organic food; and the government strongly encourages organic food. The recent First Organic Summit for Latin America encouraged all those countries to begin to grow organic food according to Maharishi's programmes, to increase their prosperity. Peru now exports only organic bananas. Finally, the United States' largest chain of grocery stores has completely banned all milk that contains genetically modified hormones; and Starbucks, one of the largest coffeehouse chains in the world, has instituted a similar ban. Dr Konhaus says that progress is being made and the world is headed for the highest state of consciousness—Brahmavidya—through Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture.
