Peace group has big plans for black dirt

On 21 May 2005 Times Herald-Record reported: The Global Country of World Peace, the international non-profit organization founded by spiritual leader Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, recently bought 818 acres of farmland in Goshen, New York. The land, reported to be some of the most fertile in the region, will be used to grow organic vegetables and to teach organic farming. The article quoted Richard Quinn, the group's representative in New York. 'The present food supply has become very polluted with lab chemicals and genetic manipulation,' he said. 'These things hinder the physiology from having profound experiences.' Quinn went on to explain to Sullivan that the Global Country of World Peace is dedicated to educating people on ways to improve their health and reach enlightenment.
