A group of eight educators from Ukraine attended an international training course in Consciousness-Based Education at Maharishi European Research University (MERU) in the Netherlands. The Ukraine delegation was the largest group from any country participating in the training. This and other news about growing interest in Consciousness-Based Education in Ukraine was reported at a recent conference in the Netherlands.
Earlier this year, a group of six prominent educators from Ukraine was hosted at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in the USA, which has been offering Consciousness-Based Education as part of its curriculum for over 40 years.
Visits to MUM academic departments showed the guests some of the many facets of how Consciousness-Based Education can be applied at the university level: ∙ Dr Keith Wallace and Dr Robert Schneider spoke about on-going research projects at the university's research institutes. ∙ At Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment on the MUM campus, the group learned more about the success of Consciousness-Based Education in a K-12 educational system, and met with a group of senior students. ∙ Dr Lonnie Gamble of the Department of Sustainable Living inspired the guests with what MUM has achieved in the area of sustainability. ∙ Dr Gurdy Leete described the Media and Communications Department's state-of-the-art technology and academic programmes in computer graphics and animation. ∙ Throughout their visit, meeting with students and graduates gave the guests a glimpse of the quality of intelligence and integration produced by Consciousness-Based Education, including the practice of Transcendental Meditation.
Leading educators at institutions in Ukraine have also been learning about Consciousness-Based Education. Dr Peter Swan, who created a popular course in Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture which he has taught in countries around the world, received a warm welcome at a prominent pedagogical university in the country. Dr Swan gave a lecture on Unified Field Based Education, Health and Defence, and discussed with university officials potential research collaborations with Maharishi University of Management.
Another delegation from Ukraine plans to visit Maharishi University of Management. The delegation will include a leading researcher in psychology based at a respected educational institute in Ukraine. One of two colleagues accompanying him to MUM also plans to take the Consciousness-Based Education Training programme offered at MERU in Holland.
Over 100 people who practise Transcendental Meditation enjoyed a presentation about Consciousness-Based Education at Ternopil Art and Music School.
Teachers in Ukraine are renowned for putting a great deal of attention on developing the inner values of children through school programmes. Transcendental Meditation teachers have commented that the application of Consciousness-Based Education will help fulfil the ideals of education these dedicated teachers wish to provide for all their students.
