The understanding that consciousness is primary provides a new light on academic and scientific knowledge. When one understands the fundamental principles and dynamics of consciousness, then one understands all knowledge at its basis. One recognizes these common principles at work in disparate disciplines, from physics to literature, from business to biology. This common, unifying framework enables one to understand all knowledge in terms of its essence.

A new book, Consciousness is Primary, from MUM Press presents the proceedings of a 2012 symposium of faculty at Maharishi University of Management in the USA and Professor Tony Nader, M.D., Ph.D. Professor Nader was honoured by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of Maharishi University of Management, as leader (Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam) of the Global Country of World Peace, which guides the teaching of Maharishi's programmes around the world.

The symposium in 2012 explored how the most advanced developments in the faculty's disciplines are illuminated by a new science and technology of consciousness, Maharishi Vedic Science.
