ConsciousnessTalks website features videos of renowned speakers
Maharishi University of Management - The Review Translate This Article
8 February 2014
ConsciousnessTalks, a new website featuring TED-style talks related to consciousness, premiered last month with a featured video of TV host and medical doctor Pamela Peeke from her presentation at Maharishi University of Management in the USA last April.
Titled ''Your Brain's Reward Center: Hacked by a Cupcake,'' the talk explains in an entertaining way the nature and seriousness of junk food addiction.
Dr. Peeke was one of eight presenters during a weekend of talks in Dalby Hall titled ''Our Conscious Future.'' Videos of the other talks will be posted monthly on ConsciousnessTalks, including those by Dr John Hagelin, Father Gabriel Mejia, Dr Robert Schneider, and Prudence Farrow Bruns.
The event brought together thought leaders to explore the field of consciousness, with a particular focus on the Transcendental Meditation technique.
The goal of the site, developed by Maharishi Foundation in cooperation with Maharishi University of Management, is to create a platform of accessible, digestible, compelling, and brief online advanced lectures related to consciousness.
According to project coordinator Michael Sternfeld, ConsciousnessTalks will expand to feature insightful talks about personal growth, including rare historic lectures by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Other presentations will feature videos on health, wellness, and personal development by thought leaders in their fields; talks on Vedic knowledge in the areas of education, architecture, and health care; and special features on the transformational programs of the David Lynch Foundation.
While many of the talks are of interest to those who practice the Transcendental Meditation technique, ultimately the site will also be of interest to those interested in consciousness and personal development who haven't yet learned the Transcendental Meditation technique.
Mr. Sternfeld said that TED Talks has recently been censoring talks related to consciousness, and that this new site is positioned to respond to this need.
