An international authority in Consciousness-Based Education visited several universities and spoke at seminars during a recent trip to Nepal.
At a large university in the country, Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management in the USA, attended a meeting with a group of many faculty. A substantial number are keenly interested in Consciousness-Based Education, the basis of the highly successful educational system at MUM.
One faculty member had learned Transcendental Meditation from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh, India, in the 1970s, and also recently attended a seminar on Consciousness-Based Education at a facility at the centre of India.
In addition to visiting this large university, President Morris also was the guest speaker at two different events.
First he spoke at a seminar on the Nepalese Peace Process through Vedic Knowledge. The seminar was attended by many political and intellectual leaders in the country. Dr Morris's address was warmly received by the audience.
At the second event Dr Morris was the guest speaker at a celebration honouring Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The other honoured guest was former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, who is also Nepal's oldest meditator. He learned Transcendental Meditation from Maharishi in 1967 and has made important contributions to the development of the Transcendental Meditation organization in Nepal.
