Maharishi University of Management - The Review Translate This Article
26 June 2013
Students at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and others will have a number of opportunities to study abroad in the 2013-2014 academic year, including Costa Rica and India.
One of the first courses offered through the university's Global Learning program—known as MUM Global University—this year is: ∙ Ethnobotany and Natural Building Study Abroad Program in Big Bend, Texas, and Costa Rica: Fall 2013.
Students will first travel to Big Bend, Texas, to experience natural building techniques with professor Mark Stimson.
They will then travel to Costa Rica and study ethnobotany with Professor David Fisher, Chair of the Sustainable Living department at MUM. There, under the supervision of sustainable entrepreneur Tom Newmark and Dr. Fisher, the students will intern and study at Finca Luna Nueva Farm and Sacred Seeds medicinal sanctuary, where hundreds of organic flora, spices, and ancient medicinal herbs are cultivated and preserved.
This course will begin on campus in September with studies that will prepare students for the subsequent ethnobotany internship.*
The Texas segment will take place in October, and the Costa Rica portion will be in November and December.
