Lothar Pirc continued to discuss the keynote address he gave at the 20th International Congress of Vedanta in New Delhi, on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's profound contributions to the knowledge of Vedanta.

Mr Pirc is Founder and Managing Director of Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre Bad Ems, Germany.

Reflecting on the congress, he described the reaction of the audience and the planning of future similar events.

'It was so wonderful to be able to give that presentation,' Mr Pirc said. 'There were a few hundred people there, [including] many distinguished scholars, professors, and representatives of the government.'

The response from the audience was very positive. 'Many came to me afterwards to express their great appreciation. They were not aware of all the vast activities and achievements of Maharishi's Movement. Quite a few professors actually came and said they were working with Maharishi 20 years ago, 30 years ago . . . and they would like to start again.'

He also spoke of the recent publication of the nearly 900-page book of the congress proceedings, Modern Perspectives on Vedanta: Proceedings of the 20th International Congress of Vedanta. Featured prominently at the beginning of the book is the text of Mr Pirc's keynote address, which was titled, 'Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Insight into Vedanta, the Ultimate Knowledge of Life, and its Application to Bring World Peace – from Philosophy to Science'.

'We are very happy that this beautiful book has been printed and is now serving as a reference book for the students of Vedic Science' at several universities in India.

Because the response from the congress was positive, Mr Pirc said, 'Professor Bal Ram Singh, who organized the conference from the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth (USA) in partnership with Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, just called me and they want me to be speaker again at the next Vedanta congress in Massachusetts.'

He added that some audience members became interested in Transcendental Meditation as a result of his speech. 'Many came to me and also wanted to learn Transcendental Meditation, so there has been a very good response.

'I was also able to give a presentation in Brussels to about 100 professors and members of parliament of the European Union earlier this year,' which was very well received, Mr Pirc concluded, 'So there is growing interest in this knowledge.'

Global Good News will feature the conclusion of Mr Pirc's talk in which he explains that the ultimate fulfilment of Vedanta is the creation of world peace.
