India: Maharishi Vedic University offers 61 academic programmes.

Dr Varma, who is also Director-General of the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India, and director of Maharishi's programmes in the nation, described the progress and achievements of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools over the past year.

In this academic year, as in previous years, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools and teachers have added a large number of state, national and international achievements, awards, and honours to the organization's renown. 'Hundreds of our students have received merit positions in national and state education board exams, talent search exams, various subject olympiads, and a large number have successfully qualified in many reputed national and international qualifying test exams.'

This is the second year, Dr Varma said, that 100 per cent of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools are continuing to implement Consciousness-Based Education. Last November, the second and third one-week advanced courses for teachers and principals were conducted in the national office by Dr Laura Ticciati and Dr Annie Balkema, 'great leaders of Consciousness-Based Education and master trainers in this field', he said.

In 2012 all principals and senior teachers from all branches of the school will attend another one-week advanced training course, which will also be conducted by Dr Ticciati and Dr Balkema.

To give better theoretical training and practical experience of Maharishi's Vedic Science and its technologies of consciousness, the Maharishi Vidya Mandir organization invited all of its teachers to attend a one-week residential course at the Bijauri campus at the Brahmasthan. Over 800 teachers participated in April, May, and June in 10 different groups, and about 150 more participated in July in two more groups.

Many teachers commented on their enjoyment of this course, and the great fulfilment they found in deepening their knowledge and experience of Maharishi's Vedic Science in the beautiful and profound atmosphere at the Brahmasthan.

In the current academic year, Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools has organized seven subject teacher seminars and workshops. One hundred twenty eight teachers have participated and refreshed their knowledge of their respective disciplines, and updated their skills with new teaching methodologies. These seminars and workshops have proven very useful for teachers and students and helped them to maintain very high academic standards in their schools.

This year Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools has completed construction of 21 school buildings, and started construction of 28 new buildings. All these buildings include halls for faculty, staff, and students for the group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic Flying. Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools group has also completed 17 new school books of arts, crafts, computer, and Sanskrit.

Global Good News will feature more about the success of Maharishi's programmes in India, including the campus at the Brahmasthan of India, and other programmes and institutions, presented recently by Dr Girish Varma.
