A master of Sanskrit recitation and pronunciation has joined the faculty in the Maharishi University of Management Reading Vedic Literature programme. Acharya Gopal Krishna Dave is a teacher of Maharishi Vedic Pandits in addition to being a Pandit himself. He joined the Reading Vedic Literature faculty in order to instruct the students in perfect pronunciation in Sanskrit.
According to Acharya Dave, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Maharishi University of Management, has said, 'You gain perfection by reading the Vedic Literature', just through mere recitation.
He added, 'Whoever wants to learn more, they could come enjoy the different classes of Maharishi Vedic Science.'
Dr William Sands, Dean of the College of Maharishi Vedic Science, concurred, but added that very soon those who are interested in learning Vedic recitation will be able to take a Sanskrit course online.
He elaborated, 'We've just begun putting online a distance education programme as part of our master's degree programme in Maharishi Vedic Science. . . . We will be recording a Sanskrit course that will be available for people to take online.'
Dr Sands outlined the advantages of taking this upcoming course.
'It's very important to learn with proper pronunciation. Maharishi made this extremely clear in recent years, that Sanskrit needs to be taught by a Vedic Pandit and you need to [learn] the pronunciation properly. So this would be a good opportunity for people in any part of the world to take a course in Sanskrit through the distance education programme.'
The course is not yet available, but Dr Sands made it clear that the university aims to have it up and running as soon as possible. It will be part of the master's programme, but can also be taken individually for those who just want to focus on learning Sanskrit.
'It will be a really delightful course,' Dr Sands concluded.
