Consciousness-Based Education tour connects with universities in Cyprus

On his recent tour of northern and southern Cyprus, Dr Bevan Morris made a point to visit many of the universities on the island. Dr Morris, who is President of Maharishi University of Management, visited and spoke with leaders at each university with the aim of establishing a link with MUM and with Consciousness-Based Education.

In addition to the University of Nicosia in the Greek part of Cyprus, Dr Morris met with a group from MKC City College in Larnaca.

Of the educational administrators there, Dr Morris said that they had prepared a memorandum of understanding to work with Maharishi University of Management for many kinds of exchanges and cooperation.

In the northern part of Nicosia, Dr Morris spoke at Cyprus International University, a rapidly expanding school with brand new buildings and the latest scientific equipment.

He also visited Eastern Mediterranean University, where he spoke to some students and met with the dean of economics and business and the vice rector. Dr Morris commented on the positive response from the university and the desire to establish a relationship with Maharishi University of Management.

Lastly, Dr Morris went to Girne American University on the northern coast of Cyprus, where he met with the rector. 'One of MUM's professors had taught there in the past and they remembered him well,' he said. There also Dr Morris encountered a positive response and intention 'to be connected to Maharishi University of Management'.

This university tour is of vital importance, Dr Morris remarked.

'One of the major industries you could say of northern Cyprus is education, so they have a lot of big universities which attract students from all over the world, and that's one of the ways that their economy functions.'
