On 3 February 2012 ModernGhana.com reported:
The President of Maharishi University of Management in the United States, Dr Bevan Morris, says Ghana should consider the adoption of Consciousness-Based Education through which a learning technique known as Transcendental Meditation, or 'quiet time', is used to improve academic performance and discipline in schools. Dr Morris spoke at an education presentation in the capital city of Accra during his recent visit to the country.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of education.
He explained that Transcendental Meditation is a simple technique being used around the world to aid the development of total brain functioning—so that students could unfold the inner reserves of brain potential, increasing their creative intelligence, reducing their stress and anxiety and having greater success in their academic performance.
At the presentation in Accra, Dr Morris referred to hundreds of scientific research studies showing that just 15-20 minutes twice a day practising the technique could bring many benefits to students.
''They (students) just sit down comfortably in a chair and close their eyes and follow a simple technique that allows the mind to settle down . . . until they reach a stage of restful alertness where the whole body is deeply relaxed and the mind is silent and peaceful. They come out from that with great joy and energy to study during the day,'' he said.
Dr Morris said that Maharishi University of Management was ready to assist in the implementation of Transcendental Meditation in the country.
The President of Maharishi Foundation in Ghana, Dr T.K. Orgle, said there are two Transcendental Meditation centres in the country and that TM is being practised at a school.
