Great confidence in the ability of Maharishi Free School in the United Kingdom—recently granted Free School status by the Department of Education—to become 'a flagship of the Free School programme' was expressed in a letter to the school from the UK government's Minister for Schools.

The letter was read at a celebration of the opening of the new school year, and indicates recognition of the success of Consciousness-Based Education. The letter states:

'I want to thank you for the great commitment and energy which you and your colleagues have shown in reaching this point.

'I'm sure that the Maharishi Free School will improve choice for parents and raise standards.

'I have every confidence that your continuing hard work and endeavours will mean that the Maharishi School will become recognized as a flagship of the Free School programme.

'I look forward to hearing news of your school's success. I wish you all the best with the opening September 2011 and in the future.'
