The article features an agreement for student exchange, completed earlier this month between Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, with the European University of Madrid in Spain (UEM), a private university that teaches many courses in English and that will provide MUM students an opportunity to study abroad.

According to Dr Scott Herriott, Dean of the MUM College of Arts and Sciences, a foreign study programme will be organized such that MUM students can study at UEM for a semester, and MUM faculty can be resident at UEM as visiting professors. It is anticipated that UEM students will enjoy opportunities to study MUM's unique knowledge of complementary medicine available in the Physiology & Health programme, as well as the BA programme in Media and Communications.

UEM also recently introduced a master's degree in sustainability in their School of Architecture, so they are interested in cooperating with MUM on a joint MBA degree specializing in sustainable business. An exciting project being planned will be 'a joint MUM-UEM ''rotating university'' programme in South Africa in the spring of 2012 to develop Maharishi Institute's 11,000-acre Ezemvelo Nature Reserve into an ecotourism destination', Dr Herriott said.
