University in Balkans to collaborate with MERU on Consciousness-Based Education

A university with campuses in several Balkan countries will soon begin collaborating with Maharishi European Research University (MERU) on Consciousness-Based Education programmes for students and professors, which university leaders envision will help create a better future for the Balkans and also contribute to world peace.
The second member of the recent delegation of education and government leaders from the Balkans addressed an assembly in MERU, Holland, of administrators of the organizations teaching the Transcendental Meditation Programme around the world.
This member of the delegation is also a leader of the university in Macedonia with which the previous speaker is affiliated. He said that after three years working together with the administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme for Macedonia and other Balkan countries, they had come to 'very complete cooperation and agreements', and would soon be starting a collaboration between their university and the organization offering Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes in the Balkan region.
The university leader said that he and the mayor of the city in which the university's main campus is located have been 'the luckiest men in the region to be here in MERU three years ago, and to meet Maharishi personally.' They talked with Maharishi directly, he said, and will never forget 'such a deep and excellent, colourful experience'.
They enjoyed very much meeting and talking with Maharishi, he said, praising the brilliance of Maharishi's mind, deep insights and incisive comments. 'He listened to us attentively, came to a conclusion immediately, and made a decision at once.' The university leader always remembers two 'golden expressions' Maharishi said—first, that knowledge has organizing power; and second, when we take a step, never go back.
The educator said that they had taken a 'first step' in 2007, and expressed great appreciation for the inspiration they had gained from Maharishi's recommendations, which have been very helpful for their progress since the beginning of the university; and they will never go back, he said.
He also explained that this year they had established universities in three other Balkan states, and now have more than 1,300 students in the region. 'We hope that together with the organization [teaching Transcendental Meditation], we are going to give a greater contribution for world peace, and that all the goals Maharishi used to say concerning the future of the Balkans and the region, and for our university, will come true.'
He concluded by repeating an expression he said to Maharishi three years ago, that his university is at the same time, 'Maharishi University in the Balkans'.
Global Good News will feature the address of the third member of the delegation from the Balkans, the Mayor of the city in which the university is located, to the assembly in MERU, Holland.
