Schools in Lima, Peru express interest in Consciousness-Based Education

Schools in the coastal area of Peru have expressed mounting interest in Consciousness-Based Education programmes, following a widely-attended presentation in the capital city of Lima.

A presentation on Consciousness-Based Education was recently given to 800 teachers in the area of Lima. It was organized by Dr Javier Ortiz, National Director of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in that country, and hosted by education officials in conjunction with a non-governmental organization focused on education initiatives.

Following the lecture, 100 proposals were received from schools wishing to implement Consciousness-Based Education, and one of those institutions would like to start the programme immediately.

A subsequent lecture is scheduled to take place in several weeks, and already 2,000 teachers have registered to attend.

This development is also significant because, although Consciousness-Based Education has been adopted widely in the Andean region of Peru, this is the first major wave of interest shown in the coastal area surrounding Lima.
