19 February 2011
On the final leg of his Africa tour, Dr Ashley Deans, Global Ambassador for Consciousness-Based Education, visited Ethiopia, where he inspired education officials, teachers, students, and the press about Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes for schools. Dr Deans described his autumn 2010 tour in a recent report.
Dr Deans met with a top education official in Ethiopia, as well as his curriculum committee, all of whom understood that Consciousness-Based Education could bring a missing element to the classroom, to unlock the inner intelligence of the student.
He delivered a lecture to hundreds of enthusiastic students at the main university in Addis Ababa, as well as to students at medical and technical colleges in that city.
At a public lecture given by Dr Deans, also in Addis Ababa, many of the audience wished to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme immediately after the event.
In a report on his visit to Ethiopia, Dr Deans reflected on the great success of Ethiopian students in the Computer Professionals Master's programme at Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Fairfield, Iowa, USA. 'This programme at MUM has really sowed the seeds of national invincibility for Ethiopia,' he said, 'since many of these students, who practise Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying, will return to their home country after finishing their education.'
