Ghana: Educators and press welcome Dr Ashley Deans on Consciousness-Based Education tour

During a tour of Africa, Dr Ashley Deans, Global Ambassador of Consciousness-Based Education, completed a highly successful visit to Ghana, presenting to teachers, students, education officials, and the press on how schools can benefit from the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Dr Deans recently reported on the tour, which took place in autumn 2010.

Dr Deans held a conference for educators in the capital city of Accra, where hundreds were in attendance including local professors. Some of the guests were already practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and those who were not inquired about learning immediately following the conference.

Local practitioners of Transcendental Meditation in Accra greatly enjoyed meeting with Dr Deans on his visit. He was impressed by the Global Mother Divine Organization* (GMDO) in Ghana, which has made great progress in introducing TM to local women.

Also in Ghana, Dr Deans was invited to participate in interviews with a student radio station, a popular late-night talk show, and another TV show oriented towards businesspeople.

Finally, Dr Deans met with several officials including those in non-formal education and women's affairs. These leaders quickly understood the need for Consciousness-Based Education as a tool for reducing violence and stress and improving moral reasoning, among many other benefits.
