The article features a series of talks given by Dr Greg Guthrie, dean of Computer Science at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, and Elaine Guthrie, director of admissions for the programme, in China, Nepal, and India during a four-week tour at the end of 2010.

Dr Guthrie lectured on the future of information technology (IT) education in the United States, which includes a focus on improving software by improving the software developers themselves. He presented research on the Transcendental Meditation Technique demonstrating how the deep rest gained during the practice creates coherence in brain functioning, leading to increased creativity and intelligence, and many other benefits that are essential for software developers.
