Danish Folk School offers Consciousness-Based Education course in graphic design and digital art

The Danish Folk School for Development of Consciousness, Rǿrvig Folkehǿjskole, offers a course in graphic design and digital art in the context of Consciousness-Based Education, which promotes the blossoming of inner creativity. The school offers a variety of long residential courses, which are scheduled to begin 16 January 2011.

The course outline gives a full description of the course:

During this course you will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign—two very powerful programmes for image manipulation.

Classes go through various exercises which enable you to create sophisticated graphics on your own.

We begin with an introduction to the basic layout of Photoshop, including toolbars, palettes, and menus, and as the course progresses, you expand your understanding and familiarity with the programme.

The teaching consists of bound exercises as well as free ones. The purpose is to enhance imagination and creativity as well as to produce high quality artistic images.

You will learn how to make use of both Photoshop and InDesign in ways that suit your own personal temperament. There are always at least two ways to do things. You choose your way.

Utilizing specific techniques you will further develop basic drawing skills and will start experiencing the creative process as a spontaneous expression of your own underlying awareness.

Gradually you will notice how creativity flows more effortlessly while your work takes on greater artistic value and beauty. This happens because, through Consciousness-Based Education and the Transcendental Meditation Programme you become more infused with your own inner silence.

All of your graphic work will be collected in an 'Artbook', and of course we finish with a graphic art exhibition.

The graphic department is headed by Henning Lau Hansen, a graphic artist with an MA in Computer Graphics.
