Maharishi University of Management Salutatorian: 'Be yourself and follow your bliss'

26 June 2010
Graduates of the Class of 2010 at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA offered the University a gift of a garden of roses and natural medicinal plants.
The gift was presented by the Class Salutatorian at the Commencement exercises on 26 June 2010.
In his address* to the assembled students, faculty, and guests, the Salutatorian shared his experience of visiting MERU, Holland with his physics class—comprising nearly all the 2010 graduates at the bachelor's level—during their freshman year.
Their physics professor—world-renowned quantum physicist Dr John Hagelin*—was in MERU at the time, working with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi felt that Dr Hagelin should teach the class in person, so he invited the entire class to Holland.
Maharishi's invitation 'showed me that he had no sense of limitation, that anything was possible in his mind', the Salutatorian recalls.
He recounted his experience of learning in that very special atmosphere of the International Capital of the Global Country in MERU.
He highlighted Maharishi's simple advice to the class: Be yourself—as thoroughly as you can.
'So to the class of 2010,' the Salutatorian concluded, 'when you step out into the world, I encourage you to remember Maharishi's message and just be your self. . . . enjoy the adventure of your life, and follow your bliss, because it usually means that you're headed in the right direction.'
