The David Lynch Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk populations through the Transcendental Meditation program. The foundation's May newsletter reports on its latest initiatives and achievements, including documentaries on the use of Transcendental Meditation in prisons and with street orphans in Colombia; and British comedian Russell Brand assisting with raising support for the foundation.
Freedom Behind Bars: Meditation in Prison is a short yet very revealing documentary on the Lynch Foundation's meditation-based rehabilitation program in one prison in Oregon, in the US. Published research shows that inmates who practice Transcendental Meditation have markedly fewer rule infractions while incarcerated and 50% reduced recidivism rates following release from prison.
British stand-up comic Russell Brand, best-selling author and star of the upcoming film 'Get Him to the Greek', supports the David Lynch Foundation by starting a charity page for the online giving community of Crowdrise.
The David Lynch Foundation recently premiered 'Saving the Disposable Ones,' a documentary featuring the emotionally compelling work of Father Gabriel Mejia, saving the lives of thousands of orphans on the streets of Colombia.
The NBC television network's 'Last Call with Carson Daly' showcased David Lynch and the Lynch Foundation in March. David talks about creativity, meditation, and the work of his foundation.
He also spoke about the use of Transcendental Meditation in helping children overcome stress.
