22 January 2010
In India 33,900 people learnt the Transcendental Meditation Technique during 2009, and 23,000 the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. Starting from 12 January 2010, Transcendental Meditation camps are being organized in 250 cities throughoiut the country, to enable many more people to learn Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Technologies of Consciousness in 2010.
Continuing his inspiring address to the global celebration of 12 January in Holland and India, Dr Girish Varma,* National Director of the Global Country of World Peace in India, also announced that ten campuses and study centres have enrolled over 3,000 new students at Maharishi Institute of Management and Technology. A two-year post graduate diploma in education has been announced, with specialization in Consciousness-Based Education for school teachers. The Institute expects to enrol over 500 teachers.
Maharishi Corporate Development Programme has trained 550 executives, including managing directors and top-level management from Fortune 500 companies in India.
In 2009, a Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course was held, with a group of young, very talented, and highly qualified teachers. They are now enthusiastically teaching the technique to a large number of people, Dr Varma said.
Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools are achieving new and greater heights every year, Dr Varma continued. This year 100,000 students have proven their mastery in every field. Dr Varma explained Maharishi's principle that, by gaining mastery over Natural Law [through direct experience of the Unified Field of Natural Law during Transcendental Meditation], one can do everything.
There are now over 100,000 students, and 6,000 teaching and support staff in 16 states of India that are demonstrating this principle in practice, Dr Varma said. Students have won several state, national, and international awards in the fields of academics, sports, athletics, dance, drama, music, debate, and more. Hundreds of students have been selected in national competitions.
Thousands of copies of special teaching materials developed for Consciousness-Based Education institutions—including 19 new Unified Field charts, 29 main point charts, teacher's manual, principal's manual, student handbook, and other materials have been sent to schoolteachers and principals who recently completed a special training course in Consciousness-Based Education. They are now teaching many students in different schools, and all teachers participating will receive an MA or Post-Graduate Diploma in Consciousness-Based Education.
In the coming days Global Good News will feature a third article on the many achievements of Maharishi's programmes in India in 2009.
* Dr Girish Varma is also Director-General of the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahmasthan [geographical centre] of India, Chairman of the 160 Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, and President of Maharishi Institutes of Management and Information Technology, in India.
