Hungary: Education for development of consciousness - Highlights of 2009

Reviewing a successful year of expansion in Hamsa (Hungary) for the programmes developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace, Raja John Konhaus, Raja (Administrator) of Invincible Hungary, summarized significant highlights of 2009.*

This is the first article in a three-part Global Good News series.

Education
Raja Konhaus and national leaders for Invincible Hungary gave a presentation on the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme at a college in Budapest—a private institution focused on the development of consciousness. The leader of the school, a medical doctor, decided to make Transcendental Meditation available to all the students. Three hundred students have been instructed so far, and many have reported very profound experiences of higher states of consciousness.** In 2010 the college will offer Maharishi's Science of Creative Intelligence course, and Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training. Also this year, the college will participate in a cooperative programme with Maharishi University of Management, USA.

On 19 December, 40 faculty and school administrators at several community schools around the nation learnt Transcendental Meditation. Following the school leaders and mayors of these communities, 500 students will also learn the technique.

At a school in one of the largest cities in Hungary, 1,500 students, faculty, and administrators learnt TM last month.

** Maharishi has explained that beyond the familiar states of waking, dreaming, and sleeping are four higher states of consciousness—Transcendental Consciousness, Cosmic Consciousness, God Consciousness, and Unity Consciousness—each bringing a new dimension of physiological functioning, experience, knowledge, and fulfilment.
