Uganda: Community leaders learn Transcendental Meditation
by Global Good News staff writer

17 December 2009
Forty community leaders in Uganda, including a number from an organization dedicated to economic development and support for people with AIDS, recently learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
One of the founders of the organization is a graduate of Maharishi University of Management, USA, who earned his Master's in Business Administration (MBA) there in 2002.
During an earlier meeting at the organization, the leaders had heard a presentation about the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, which was given by Raja Graham de Freitas, Raja of Invincible Uganda, and Dr Grant Lusimbo, National Director.
Reporting on a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat,* Raja Graham described potential plans to offer Transcendental Meditation in other areas connected with the economic development organization.
He also expressed the great need for more Transcendental Meditation Teachers in Uganda, to expand the activities Dr Lusimbo—the only Teacher now in the country—is able to offer throughout the nation. He mentioned that several educated, unemployed members of the community have expressed interest in becoming Transcendental Meditation Teachers, and that this possibility will be pursued.
'The first signs are good that we can successfully build a group of Transcendental Meditation practitioners—and eventually an invincibility group of Yogic Flyers—from this community,' said Raja Graham. 'We believe this will contribute to solving the AIDS epidemic and economic fallout within the country.'
* Raja Graham's report was featured on the 12 December 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
