Students at a Consciousness-Based girls' secondary school in Uganda recently described how their lives have improved after beginning the practice of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
The school has 45 girls, with plans for expansion of both the number of students and school facilities, said Raja Graham de Freitas, Raja of Invincible Uganda for the Global Country of World Peace.
By providing education for girls, the school fills a need in the area. It is also appreciated because it is non-sectarian, and attended by both Muslim and Christian students, he said.
The students deeply appreciate Transcendental Meditation, Raja Graham continued. One student wrote 'Mr Grant [Lusimbo, director of the school] is the best teacher I have ever seen because he taught us how to meditate, and now we are able to rest whenever we get tired or whenever we have stress. After meditating we become happy—and happiness is the key to success.' The student said she wants to continue meditating her whole life.
Another student, who has a serious health problem, said that 'since I started meditation, I have seen my health improving. I used to have body aches and terrible headaches, but these days I am happy to be healthy. . . . I don't experience aches.' The student added that 'I understand . . . myself—who I am.' She also commented that she enjoys more support from her friends now that they all meditate.
A third student described her experience during Transcendental Meditation. 'Sometimes I find myself in a state of not thinking anything. After meditating I become fresh and I feel more healthy, and feel a lot of energy. Now I don't have stress and I can make good decisions.'
Raja Graham congratulated Dr Grant Lusimbo—who is both director of the school and National Director of the Global Country of World Peace in Uganda—for the school's growing success.
