21 April 2009
In a recent interview on dlf.tv, singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, who performed at the historic Paul McCartney concert at Radio City Music Hall, New York on 4 April, said that for her this event was 'one of the most important events to happen at this moment in our history'.
Ms Crow said she felt that, 'as we all know, we're living and navigating through an immense amount of chaos in the universe.
'Our kids are growing up with this kind of chaos; this kind of stress is being handed down to them and thrust upon them, and they're not equipped to understand how the central nervous system is braced at all times to try to handle that, and it comes out in very destructive ways sometimes with kids—whether it's not being interested in school or whether it's getting into violence or drugs.'
In a message on DavidLynchFoundation.org, Dr Lynch says he hopes that 'as a preparation for learning and as a tool for developing the creative potential of the mind, 'diving within' through Transcendental Meditation will be a standard part of every school's curriculum.' The David Lynch foundation was created for this purpose—to enable any child or school who wishes to take advantage of this programme.
Over 100,000 students and many school faculty and administrators have been supported by the David Lynch Foundation in this way.
In her interview, Ms Crow said that this is the message that should be sent throughout the world—'that all of us on this planet can talk about peace, but peace begins within all of us, and it's not about peaceful relationships, not getting into arguments or getting along.
'Peace is something deeper than that. It is tapping into something that exists within all of us and makes us unique and that helps us to be purer. But we get away from that because our brains are so overactive . . . .' she said.
'So I feel this is the right thing to do, and it's what should be part of our school systems and also be part of our daily life throughout.'
