The high interest seen among educators, government officials, and students in Turkey to implement Consciousness-Based Education in their nation's schools continued as the tour of Dr Ashley Deans progressed to other cities in the country.
In Adana, a city in southeast Turkey, Dr Deans, who is Global Ambassador of the Global Country of World Peace, participated in a television interview, as well as giving several well-attended public lectures. He reported that Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Adana are now working actively to implement Consciousness-Based Education in the city's schools.
In the neighbouring small town of Iskenderun, nearly the entire population came to hear Dr Deans' lecture, and since then, a school of 400 students has expressed interest in Consciousness-Based Education. Dr Deans is hopeful that the David Lynch Foundation will sponsor a programme in this school since it is strategically located near the border of Syria. 'A school of 400 Yogic Flyers in this location could accelerate the growth of positivity we're seeing everywhere in world events.'
In another city, Dr Deans met with leading officials, including a director of education. The leaders responded with enthusiasm and openness to Maharishi's knowledge, and were eager to implement programmes for Consciousness-Based Education. In addition, Raja Paul Potter, Raja of Invincible Turkey for the Global Country of World Peace, gave a presentation on Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, to the city's town planners and other officials. The audience was excited at the prospect of reorienting the town according to Vastu principals, as well as building a Maharishi Tower of Invincibility.
Dr Deans and his group organized a banquet for practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programmes and for Transcendental Meditation Teachers in the area, during which he encouraged further initiatives in the fields of Consciousness-Based Education and all of the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Finally, in Antakya (Antioch) Turkey, Dr Deans presented to students and faculty at the nation's oldest university—founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder and first president of modern Turkey. Positive responses from the audience indicated good prospects for introducing Consciousness-Based Education there.
'It is amazing how Turkey has become a lighthouse for positivity in the world,' said Dr Deans in conclusion.
