Speaking recently on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Robert Roth, National Director of Expansion for the Global Country of World Peace in the United States, related the events of the third annual David Lynch Weekend, 25-28 April, which took place at Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.), Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

The main focus of the weekend, which featured speeches and performances by director David Lynch, Raja John Hagelin, and legendary singer-songwriter Donovan Leitch, was to inspire the interest of prospective students in Maharishi University of Management, said Dr Roth. While last year there were 30 prospective students attending the event, this year the number reached a groundbreaking 275. Dr Roth added that 65 of those students learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique during the weekend.

The first evening's event took place in Dalby Hall, the university's new Argiro Student Center auditorium, where 400 people, including prospective students and their families, attended. During the evening, David Lynch, Raja Hagelin, and Donovan took questions from the audience on topics ranging from consciousness to creativity and the arts. In addition, the musical ensemble 'One Time Only', a diverse group of M.U.M. students, played for 15 minutes, receiving a standing ovation for their performance. David Lynch enjoyed the student show immensely, reported Dr Roth, calling it 'the most thrilling music he ever heard, bursting with bliss, creativity, and pure Being'.

The next large event, on Saturday evening, took place in the university's Grand Assembly Hall. The event, which was open to all Iowa residents, was attended by 1,400 people. During the evening, Dr Roth said that David Lynch thrilled everyone with his deep understanding and devotion to the profound knowledge brought out by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of Maharishi University of Management and the Global Country of World Peace.

Raja Hagelin's talk on quantum mechanics, consciousness, and spirituality proved to be the highlight of the weekend for many of the visiting students. Dr Roth praised Raja Hagelin for his vast storehouse of knowledge, and described the lecture as a 'compelling masterpiece'. Finally, during Saturday's events, Donovan recounted his many experiences with Maharishi through the years.

Concluding his account of this year's David Lynch Weekend, Dr Roth expressed conviction that the event would bring many new students to M.U.M. this coming fall.
