4 February 2008
Broadcast around the world over the Maharishi Channel (Channel 3), the Inauguration of the new Argiro Student Center at Maharishi University of Management, took place in the 300-seat Grand Assembly Hall on 1 February, 2008. The principal donors to the Center, Drs Vincent and Maggie Argiro, spoke at the Inauguration.
Please also see Part I about this Inauguration.
Dr Vincent Argiro, one of the principal donors to the Student Center in whose name the building is known, said that 'It is a great and unexpected pleasure to be able to join the Global Family Chat and to share this wonderful celebration across the continents, especially with our revered family assembled in Vlodrop [at MERU, in Vlodrop, Holland]—the Congress of the Rajas (Administrators), the Ministers of the Global Country of World Peace, and our dear Maharishi. It is our great honour to speak and be present on this great day.
'When we speak of this building and people speak out that name ''Arjuro Student Center'', we want people to focus primarily on the first sound, on the sound 'AAA'*, on that value of Totality, the value of Brahm that this building brings to this campus, and this campus brings to all the world family.'
Dr Argiro said that he and his wife, Dr Maggie Argiro, had been thanked so many times today and 'we feel quite overwhelmed by that gratitude. It is really our gratitude reflected back to the entire community, to Maharishi's entire world family, that we are so grateful for ourselves—to have the opportunity in a lifetime to do something as meaningful as this that will touch the lives of so many people—students, faculty, staff, everyone—well wishers of this University. Thank you.'
Dr Maggie Argiro then spoke saying that when she first started contributing to it to this building and making it a reality on this campus, the very first thing that came to her was all the people that would meet each other; all the people that would come together and talk about the class they'd just had, the professors and what they said; and the knowledge of Maharishi and Guru Dev.
They 'would be so excited about that,' said Dr Argiro, 'and bring their friends to see the campus, and bring their parents. They'd be so proud to have this building, and to show them.
'That has been very fulfilling, and it's been reflected back to me just looking in the audience today: all the beautiful faces out there enjoying the building and enjoying being here, and looking forward to spending more time here.
'So I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to take the impulse that we felt to give, and to provide that impulse back to the place where it began—at the source. This is what came out. And we are very happy that we were able to make that a reality.'
* 'AAA': The first syllable of Rik Veda, which Maharishi explains is the expression of Totality, the expression of Total Knowledge in one letter. The unfoldment of the Vedic Literature Maharishi says is a commentary on this first syllable.
