19 November 2007
Dr Mariano Facipieri, Raja (Administrator) of the Global Country of World Peace for Italy, reported on 14 November 2007, on the success of filmmaker David Lynch's recent tour in Italy to promote Consciousness-Based Education. Dr Lynch's meetings in Rome and Palermo resulted in several articles in major newspapers in Italy, which ran headlines such as, 'The School of Peace' and 'Well Being is Entering the Classrooms'. One of Sicily's major newspapers dedicated an entire issue to Lynch and his message of creating invincibility for the nation through group practice of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Technique and Yogic Flying.
In Palermo, the Sicilian capital, Lynch was accompanied to a press conference by the city's mayor, where more than 30 journalists had assembled to interview Dr Lynch, and that evening an educational conference with Dr Lynch was attended by 1200 people in the historic, open air Cathedral of Palermo. Dr Facipieri remarked that the atmosphere was warm and receptive, with many questions about TM rather than cinema. 'Even though it started to rain, everyone just opened their umbrellas and continued in rapt attention listening to Lynch's talk,' he said.
As a result of Dr Lynch's visit, one of the most prestigious universities in Palermo signed an agreement to introduce the TM Programme in their school, and another school in the north of Italy also contracted for the programme. Both schools were enthusiastic and eager to begin the programme as soon as possible.
Dr Facipieri reported on 'another sign of Sicily waking up', describing a recent live, one-hour television broadcast in Palermo with several leaders of the TM Programme in Italy, including himself.
Concluding his report, Dr Facipieri described a beautiful 60-hectare tract of land that has been purchased in Rome to be the site of a new complex of buildings, including the Tower of Invincibility, the Raja's palace, the University of Invincibility for 800 students, a Maharishi Ayur-Veda Clinic and Spa, as well as Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture projects. All the buildings will be built according to Vedic Architecture, starting with the Raja's palace. This new complex will be the Capital of Invincibility for Italy.
