Speaking recently on the Maharishi Channel, Dr Vikram Aditya, Raja of Vedic Siam for the Global Country of World Peace, spoke about the Vedic schools in Indonesia and schools in Thailand that have learnt the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
On the island of Bali in Indonesia, which is rich in Vedic culture, the teachers of Transcendental Meditation have started another project in a school where students are educated according to the Vedic tradition.
All 350 students in another school have learnt Transcendental Meditation and meditate regularly in classrooms every day. The President of this school finished the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course in Thailand earlier this year.
In Chenmai, in the northern part of Thailand, one Transcendental Meditation teacher is also starting a Maharishi Ayur Veda health spa, and health centre. So Thailand now has two spa and health centres: in Chenmai in the north, and also in Chantaburi.
A TM-Sidhi course recently started for the faculty and staff of Rajapark College. There are 16 people on this course.
A residence course will soon be held for the students and some faculty members, with 20 course participants. The Education Ministry of Thailand is subsidizing a good portion of the room and board for the residence course, since it considers meditation as a good student activity.
Recently a very senior director of a big school, who is also a long time practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, walked into Dr Aditya's office to see him without any appointment. His school is in the northern part of Thailand and has 5,000 students. He said that the management of the school have tried various methods of culturing good behaviour for the students, but none of them were successful.
'He sees TM as the only successful way to culture good student behaviour,' said Dr Aditya. 'He would like all the teachers and students in his school to learn TM, and meditate regularly at school every day.'
