A definition of the knowledge offered by the different faculties of Maharishi Vedic University: Education
by Raja Peter Warburton, PhD
TM News, UK Translate This Article
13 June 2007
Dr Peter Warburton, Raja of England, explained that at Maharishi Vedic University the knowledge embraces all the traditional content of each discipline, but on the foundation of the field of Total Knowledge, and as an expression of Total Knowledge.
Education (Enlightenment) Veda is Total Knowledge The field of Total Knowledge, the science and technology of Total Natural Law, the Veda, is embodied in its first syllable, 'A'.
This is education for enlightenment, Raja Peter said. The word 'education' from its Latin root educere, means 'to lead out'. In Vedic terms, education is Shiksha, the knowledge of unfolding that which is hidden from view.
Education in its supreme value means that nothing is hidden from view: everything about the subject and object is known totally.
Raja Peter gave an example: If we see a new person, our mind immediately investigates: Who is this person? Where have they come from? What sort of person is it? We want to know everything about them. Shiksha, education, is to unfold knowledge to the level where nothing is hidden from view: everything about the manifest value of the object is known, and everything about the unmanifest value from which all the manifest values emerge.
That is the supreme value of education that leads to the realisation of Total Knowledge, enlightenment. Veda, the field of Total Knowledge, is embodied in its first syllable 'A'. So, all knowledge of education too is traced to its source in 'A'.
'The value of Total Knowledge cannot be over-estimated because the unfoldment of infinite creativity through Total Knowledge is the basis to fulfil all desires and realise all possibilities in daily life.'—Maharishi
