Know the knower, develop higher consciousness--the fundamental point of Maharishi's Vedic Education, Part I
by Global Good News staff writer

14 February 2007
In the Global News Conference on 7 February, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, President of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment and Maharishi University of Management, explained the influence of Maharishi's Vedic Education for total brain development and improved academic performance of students everywhere.
The press asked about the impact of Vedic Education when 'in spite of a new $57 billion federal budget for the Education Department of the United States government, critics say there is nothing new or innovative to boost academic performance' and foundering academic test scores.
Dr Morris answered that under the leadership of Dr David Lynch and the David Lynch Foundation, currently a very powerful wave of knowledge is flowing to schools everywhere in the US—informing them that simply adding Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying to students' routine every day will completely transform their experience and their educational achievement.
We currently have a system of education that is based on fragmented knowledge, parts of knowledge, Dr Morris said. 'Learning only parts of knowledge in the different disciplines enlivens only parts of the brain, and never the whole brain.'
Even after 12 or 16 years of education, nothing students have ever been taught gives them the experience of the holistic development of their brain.
'The only experience which develops the holistic functioning of the human brain,' Dr Morris continued, 'is the experience of that which is not fragmented, but which is whole. And that is consciousness in its holistic, unified, transcendental state.
'This is the fundamental state of consciousness, the experience where the individual mind is identified with the universal reality of the Unified Field of consciousness itself,' Dr Morris said.
Over the next few days, Global Good News will feature Parts II and III of this series, exploring further the development of Dr Morris's brilliant presentation on Vedic Education.
